Frank Lloyd Wright gift to PIA

Father of Modern architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright gave a PIA the post card copy of his project, " the Mile High Building" in Illinois.FLW send the postcard to PIA president Otilio Arellano. The Mile High Building served as an inspiration to architects in designing modern day skyscrapers all around the world.

First PIA Headquarter

The first PIA Headquarter was the mansion of PIA President Jose Zaragoza in Calle San Sebastian (now R. Hidalgo st) in Quiapo, Manila. It was inaugurated in 1954, with Cardinal Santos of Manila Cathedral blessing it. The PIA stayed there until 1960s before they moved to the Architectural Center Club Bldg in Makati City.

Council for the Architecture Profession

The signing of the MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT between the United Architects of the Philippines ( Arch. Ramon Mendoza, President), Philippine Institute of Architects (Arch. Joel Rico, President) and the Council of Dean and Heads of Architectural Schools in the Philippines (Arch. John Joseph Fernandez) for the formation of the COUNCIL FOR THE ARCHITECTURE PROFESSION, March 26, 2012, at the UAP Headquarter.

The orphanage that PIA help built.

The Philippine Institute of Architects (PIA) and the White Cross Childrens Home, through the assistance of the Crystal Fountain Foundation, collaborated for the completion of the CRYSTAL FOUNTAIN EDUCATIONAL CENTER, at the White Cross Childrens Home complex in San Juan City. The project was launched in 2010 as part of the expanding facilities for the orphange home. The PIA donated its architectural design, supervision and indutry partners to help complete the computer, library and audio-visul center for the childrens of White Cross. the Center will be inagurated in May 2012.

PIA-DENR National Greening Program Signed

PIA NEWS! The PIA and DENR formally signed an Memorandum of Agreement in forming the DENR-PIA NATIONAL GREENING PROGRAM, last April 25, 2012 at the DENR Main Bldg. Quezon City, Present in the event was PIA president Joel Rico, DENR Undersecretary Ernesto Adobo Jr, PIA Project Director Nepthy Del Rosario, DENR Asst. Secretary Marlo Mendoza. it was witnessed by Dir. Jun Tuddao Jr, PIA Rizal president Chris Celones, PIA Camanava president Walter Ocampo, Past President Lito Antonio, PIA Quezon City Lynn Del Rosario. the partnership is aimed to promote the stewardship of our environment through our provincial sections and community partners in the span of 10 years.

Architects and Engineers Meeting with the PRC Chairperson

PIA NEWS, the JOINT Meeting between the architects and the Civil Engineers finally pushed through on April 24, 2012. The PRC Chairperson, Atty. Manzala, through the assistance of PRC Comm. Engr. Po convened the meeting between the two allied professionals, the architects and the Civil Engineer, aimed to finally settle the on going issues between the two. The UAP-IAPOA President Ramon Mendoza led our official representation, together with PIA President Joel Rico, Council Chairman Bert Nuke, Board of Architecture Boy Alli, and the rest of the delegates from UAP. while the civil engineers is led by their PICE President and PRCE Chairman respectively. The meeting went friendly and cordial, as the two professional organizations try to find ways to resolve its differences.
